The rescuers of the put up for demolition Garrisons furnace in Plovdiv demonstrated a short dance in the neighboring garden this afternoon. The idea of the committee headed by the artist Emil Mirazchiev to outsource an entire performance with exhibitions, installations and body-painting however, suffered failure.
Mirazchiev, chairman of the association "Art Today", however believes that he could save the former furnace with 320,000 levs – the same amount provided for the demolition. He hopes to transform it into a center for contemporary art. On Saturday the activists gathered signatures from 250 people against the liquidation of the site.
The artist insists on presenting the project for the art center firstly to the people in the neighborhood and if they approve it, to the attention of local authorities. Simultaneously the district mayoralty ensures that the garrison furnace will not be destroyed for now. Read More via PlovdivTime.
